Snow Leopard Trek and Expeditions in Ladakh are highly focused on the kingdom of the Leopard family. Ladakh is also called the capital home for Snow Leopard in Indian- Himalayan. Hemis National Park (HNP) is in the eastern region of Leh; is mainly home for Snow Leoard. It is the largest national park of India. Within the Hemis National Park; there are several valleys like Husing Valley, Tarbung Valley, Tsarbung valley, Kharlung valley and Rumbak valley and Ghandhala area, where we can spot for the Snow Leopard quite often especially in winter season from October till March. But Mid February till mid March will be best time to look for Snow Leopard.During this time it is mating season for this wild-cats and chances are 100%.
Snow Leopard can also be spot in the Rong Valley; several villages like Liktse, Tharchik Himya & Khatphu, where we have seen and spot this wild-Cats in our winter trip.Roads are accessible and accommodation are with comfortable homestay with the local village. It is very quite and not crowded in this area.
Sham valley is also becoming quite popular; there are several villages in Sham Valley like Saspotse, Yangthang, Hemis Shukpachen and Ulley villages; where we have the chances of spotting Snow Leopard quite often. there are opportunities of communication consistently at wide range in these Valley. Roads are also accessible and accommodation is fewer problems in this above villages.
We do not keep limited area in HNP but keep the option open to all these area; wherever our informers inform us/contact us of spotting this wild-cats; we remain ready to drive to that area for spotting/sighting and make sure our guests see and capture Snow Leopard's amazing picture by everyone & also enjoying & gazes the Snow Leopard for several hours. Day 01 : Delhi to Leh:-
Reception at KBR Airport,Leh, and welcome in traditional Ladakh style by extending white scarf to each and every guests, transfer to Hotel, Leh. Complete day rest for acclimatization (it is very important for those coming from lower altitude) to Leh’s high altitude of 3450 mtr. Hot lunch at the Hotel. Evening easy walk/stroll in the Leh Market for orientation with English speaking Guide. Overnight hotel at Leh.
Day 02: Leh/Second day acclimatization Day
After breakfast local sightseeing of monasteries around Leh – Shey, Thiksay and birding around Indus belt. Indus belt is popular for some of the winter endemic birds of Ladakh including Ibisbill. Hotel, Leh.
Day 03: Leh to Ulley Valley Homestays / Rong Valley
After breakfast drive to Ulley Village up in the mountains for spotting snow leopard. Ulley is a hamlet consisting of about 5 families, mostly scattered in upland valley, one of the popular destinations for spotting Snow Leopards, Ibex, Blue Sheep, Wolf, Lammergeier, Golden Eagle, etc. Yaks are reared by the villagers and which are also hunted by the Snow Leopard. Overnight at homestays at Ulley. Depending on the good information of Snow Leopard sighting either in Ulley or Rong valley or some other places, we will be moving on this day.
Day 04: Snow Leopard sighting day at Ulley
Whole Day Sighting Snow Leopard in Ulley and surrounding area. Overnight at Homestay, Ulley
Day 05: Ulley to Hemis National Park (HNP) drive/Hike
After a morning of spotting trials, drive to Hemis High Altitude National Park (HNP); Jeep will drop at Zinchen within HNP and trek to Husing Valley (3550 mtrs), where camp for the rest of the days is already set-up camping place by our staff. The trek from Zinchen till Camp is about 01 hour with stops for spotting in the by-passing Tarbung Rigdges and valley. Evening at leisure at Camp Husing. Hot Lunch at the camp. Overnight Camping at Husing
Day 06 : Full day for Snow Leopard at HNP
Full Day snow leopard spotting walks/treks into different valleys with inputs and guidance from Spotter(s) who scan the whole valley from morning till evening with breaks for morning tea/breakfast/lunch and evening tea. On spotting snow leopard, the spotters convey the message to guests with the help of walky talky and also by getting message personally by spotters who come to help guests getting their heavy camera gears to the spotting point normally a mount, ridge about 100-250 meter above the camp depending on the sighting spot. Overnight at Camp at Husing Valley.
Day 07: Full day for Snow Leopard at HNP
Full Day Snow Leopard spotting walks/treks (similar to previous day), The camp is surrounded by few valleys popular for spotting Snow Leopards, like Husing Valley, Tsarbung Valley, Kharlung Valley, Tarbung Valley and Rumbak Valley. Spotter(s) will scan the Valleys on tip-offs and on their own experiences and convey messages to the camp and location of the guests. Overnight at Camp, Husing
Day 08: Full day for Snow Leopard at HNP
Full Day Snow Leopard spotting walks/treks (similar to previous day) Overnight at Husing Camp.
Day 09 : Snow Leopard day in HNP

Day 10 : Hike to Rumbak Valley for Homestays
After an early breakfast , today start trek to Rumbak / Urutsey Valleys (4250 Mtr). The trek is uphill through the Rumbak stream, zig-zaging, on the iced stream few times, to reach to open Valley of Rumbak and Yurutsey junction. Homestays in these villages are popular in the summer and many trekkers also enjoy experiencing Homestay in the winter. Check in to Homestay and hot Lunch on arrival. Whole of the evening to enjoy valleys for great scenes of Stok Kangri range, passes as high as 5000 mtrs and also to look for Snow Leopard. Whole of the Valley is also popular for spotting other wild animals and birds like, Lynx, Ibex, Ladakh Urial, Nyan, Blue Sheep, Wolf, Picas, Red Fox, Golden Eagle, Lammergeier. Overnight Homestay, Rumbak.
Day 11 : Rumbak to camp at Husing Hike down
After breakfast trek down to Husing Valley, scanning Rumbak, Yurutse, Tsarbung, Kharlung Valley before reaching the Camp. Hot Lunch at the Camp. Whole of the afternoon at Husing. Evening at the camp and last Dinner Farewell Party with the local staff. Overnight Camp, Husing
Day 12 : Last day at HNP & Drive back to Leh
After b/f one last time scan the slopes surrounding the camp and trek down to Jingchen. Pickup by car(s) to Hotel in Leh. Hot lunch at Hotel, Leh and whole of the evening for checking photos, connecting with the families back home by phone/email and shopping for souvenirs’ from Ladakh. Overnight Hotel, Leh
Day 13: Leh to Delhi
Transfer to KBR Airport Leh for further travel home with great memories of Ladakh and good photos of Snow Leopards and other winter wild animals of Ladakh.

Important Notes:
Homestays: Homestays are simple Ladakhi Home with basic facilities of hygienic room, heater with meals, but without attached toilet.
Porter: Porters assigned for carrying tripods, scopes, camera and lenses (all personal) are not responsible for if due to falls or slips or small accidents, damaged. As such clients are requested to either get their expensive cameras, lenses and tripods, etc. are insured or carry them on their own.
Water: Drinking water at the camp is collected from the icy stream water just below / adjacent to camp, and provided boiled. If clients cannot take such water, we advised them to ask us to buy bottled water from Leh and be brought to camp, well in advance.
Spotting: No one can guarantee spotting this elusive Snow Leopard at a site and at a particular time. Our company does everything to ensure that the clients somehow spot Snow Leopard for which they have come all the way from other parts of the world and spend huge amount of money for such trip. In circumstances, when our local networks/experts on Snow Leopard inform us about possibility of spotting the leopard in other valleys/regions, we promptly inform our clients, but the decision taken and extra expenses (if any) are wholly and solely of the clients and not ours. In such case our company will take written note from the clients for change of programme which the clients have to sign and agree. Other valleys, villages and regions that are popular for such spotting are Ulley, Saspotsey, Hemis Shukpachan, Tingmosgang and Tia, Tar, Skindiang, Tarchit, Ligtse, Kyungyam, Hemya, etc .and some of these villages need Special Permit (Protected Area Permit) from the administration for foreigners. Our company, will process the permit on arrival and keep them ready.
Language guide: German/French or any other languages other than English speaking guides are not in plenty in Ladakh. We will need ample time to book such language guide. We shall, however arrange such guide for special groups, but extra fees for such services shall be additional and not inclusive in the package rate.
Spotting Scope/ Binocular: We provide one spotting scope and one binocular which will be used by our Snow Leopard Guide and will be shared for viewing snow leopard with the clients. If the clients have their personal scope and binocular, they can enjoy viewing the leopard in much ease. Hence we recommend all our clients to bring their own binoculars and if possible spotting scopes for better experience of spotting snow leopard in the wild.
Sleeping Bag: We provide extra sleeping bag to clients for -15-20*. We strongly recommend, that each client brings their own good sleeping bag for -20* temperature. Temperature abruptly changes/ falls here in Ladakh in the winter.
Water Bottle: Personal water bottle, if possible 2 litr + is must by the guest on the trip.
Torch / Head Torch: Torch must and if possible one that can be tied on the head for free movements of arms/hands. Powerful multi-battery Torch can also help spot snow leopard in the night.
